- Vegetable oil (enough for deep frying)
For Baking:
- 1 egg yolk (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon milk
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar.
- In a separate bowl, mix the warm water with the yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add the yeast mixture, olive oil, and yogurt to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling
- In a skillet, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat.
- Add the shredded chicken (or ground beef) and sauté until heated through.
- Stir in the vegetables, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let the filling cool before assembling the rolls.
Step 3: Assemble the Rolls
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) if baking.
- Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal portions.
- Roll each portion into a thin circle, approximately 6 inches in diameter.
- Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each circle. Add shredded cheese, if desired.
- Fold the dough over the filling, sealing the edges tightly to form a roll.
