Recipe: Fried Crab Legs

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound crab legs, thawed if frozen
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Lemon wedges for serving
  • Optional: tartar sauce or cocktail sauce for dipping

Directions:

  1. In a shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
  2. Pour the buttermilk into another shallow dish.
  3. Dip each crab leg into the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off.
  4. Dredge the crab legs in the seasoned flour mixture, coating them evenly on all sides. Shake off any excess flour.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Carefully place the coated crab legs into the hot oil, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the skillet.
  7. Fry the crab legs for 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, turning them occasionally with tongs.
  8. Using a slotted spoon or tongs, transfer the fried crab legs to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  9. Serve the fried crab legs hot with lemon wedges and your choice of tartar sauce or cocktail sauce for dipping.
