Ingredients:
1 large cabbage head
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup cooked rice
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 can (14 ounces) tomato sauce
1 cup beef broth
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions:
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and blanch them in the boiling water for about 2-3 minutes, or until softened. Remove the leaves and set aside to cool.
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, thyme, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
Take one cabbage leaf at a time and place a small amount of the meat mixture in the center. Roll the leaf tightly, tucking in the sides as you go. Repeat with the remaining cabbage leaves and meat mixture.
In a large pot or Dutch oven, combine the tomato sauce, beef broth, tomato paste, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and lemon juice. Stir well to combine.
Place the stuffed cabbage rolls into the pot, seam side down, arranging them in a single layer. If needed, stack a second layer on top.
Bring the liquid to a simmer over medium heat. Cover the pot and cook for about 1 hour, or until the cabbage is tender and the meat is cooked through.
Serve the stuffed cabbage rolls hot, spooning some of the sauce over each roll. They can be enjoyed on their own or served with mashed potatoes or crusty bread.
